Hi I have for the most part been able to fly every day since wave 1 PTU started. Because I have been cynical about the combat changes since first announced, I wanted some time with them before commenting. Another reason I have not posted is that up till tonight I have been pretty neutral about the changes overall now that I got my hands on them. I have been strictly focused on soloing fighters (light to heavy) so am not commenting on multicrew. I this a comment on PvP in the PU So as it turns out, I am actually competent in PvP with the changes and I have been winning more fights than I normally do with previous live builds. I have been able to dynamically change the focus of the power triangle during a fight and swap from guns to missile operator mode (MOM) without trouble. Note I haven’t developed muscle memory yet but yes I can do all of that in a dogfight without too much of a problem. Two of my PvP dogfights have lasted more than 30 minutes (one I won, the other I call a loss because I was more damaged but after 40 minutes we called it quits). I have been combat focused since 2012 and will drop whatever I am doing for a good fight, to the point I was dog-fighting in a Cat with a full load of cargo in earlier patches. What I find troubling is that combat feels more of a grind than fun now, Some thoughts: The ships feel way too “airplanish” and less six degrees of freedom. The ships are way too “sloppy” and forward thrust biased. This game is a space flight combat game and not war thunder or “Pick your flight sim” Repeaters are basically useless in PvP if size 3 and below, laser cannons are the meta IMHO. If you're halfway good you can cause enough separation to regen shields before energy repeaters can do significant damage. Combat is mostly voluntary now unless you get pad camped, caught by surprise, or get gang tackled. How to make combat more fun? I honestly don’t know, my only real suggestion would be to take the forward Bias away completely and bring the precision of control back to 3.4 or earlier levels. The new gun ammo limits require more precise ship control than we have. Sloppy handling ships and limited ammo do not make for fun. The big engines can be your quantum drives for anyone needing immersion just like they were in 2.X :stuck_out_tongue: Note, it is still early days as I get more time in combat, my opinion may change. This is simply my impression of combat today. As stated above, I have been really neutral about the changes up till tonight and I was fighting a combat focused friend, when it hit me that combat felt like more a grind and not fun, which is want finally got me to post. I honestly hope that feeling changes Update: I have been playing Xeno Threat the last couple of days and I am getting better with cannons, which I am using almost exclusively. The Scythe can one shot an arrow which is pretty cool. I have done enough damage to have earned the CDF undersuit. I haven't had a chance to PVP, but PVE is feeling pretty good. The NPCs are actually fighting back which is nice. My opinion on handling is unchanged, but I did finally notice the change how speed control works and that had been driving me nuts. The box indicator toggles between Green and red whether it is work or not. The boost control is the toggle in addition to controlling boost. Now that I know how the system works it is actually a pretty good update works well with boost.
