Please upvote and share your opinion Disclaimer: I can't write or spell so please don't tell me something I don't already know. But please share your opinions about being a turret gunner on a Connie and how you can't hit things where you need them most. Bottom line: The Corsair side turrets cannot hit what is directly in front of it not directly behind or below it. Readers Digest version: If I have a Pilot and two turrets against one pilot, it should be 3 against one in the new multi-crew scenario. Hobbling the "Plus 2" artificially no longer gives a true three against one. A single pilot should fear a fully crewed and turreted ship. Having a fully crewed ship does not make it OP, it makes it right. The days when a single Gladius pilot takes out a fully crewed Hammerhead or Redeemer should be over. The Problem: You are flying as a turret gunner during a combat mission when you are entering the heat of the battle, the Pilot calls out his designated target " Target 1 Mr. PoopyPants" as he opens fire! You swivel your turret around to hit the soon-to-be-evaporated perpetrator and you hear THUNK! You feel the abrupt stop reverberate through your body while the servos and gears for the turret grind to what sounds like a chorus of cats in heat on a hot spring night. You can see tango 1, your hand's strain on the turret controls trying to will them to turn the turret just a few more degrees to center both mentally and physically. The turret will not fire to the direct front! MR. PoopyPants zips past you with his left engine on fire, tiny pieces of tensile and sparklers trailing behind it as if someone had mixed up 4th of July with Xmas and dumped it out of the back of Nomad as gifts to the universe. So beautiful to see yet knowing what it can do to the inside of your manifolds takes all that grandeur immediately away. Mr. PoopyPants swings wide and back to your low Six. He sits there like a fat tick sucking up shields like blood from a dog in a spot he just can't get to. The Copilot yells on the comms "I can't get 'em he's too low" as he tries to operate the rear turret! You try to assist, but you quickly discover again that you are useless, you can barely hit 5 o'clock on the starboard side. The feeling of dread pours over you like a black velvet blanket that is far from warm with the cold embrace of open space soon to envelop you. Your turret is a decoration, a hood ornament for the side of the ship, and another example of the emperor's clothing in its own way. You can see the shields are down, you thought you had seen parts of the rear turret and the ramp container break away from the ship, and all you can do is watch. You feel another great impact cascade through the ship, this time something cracked in your left shoulder, and what feels like blood traces down your neck from your left ear under your helmet. All goes quiet. you look aft of the ship trying to make sense of what has happened. You see a dark and mangled lifeless shape fused to the rear of the Corsair. The pilot must have hit the brakes and used the ship itself to kill our would-be attacker by doing something our turrets could not. As soon as you get back to port, if you get back you swear you will get out the Multi Tools and cut some new gears for the turrets, and there is no way you are going to help scrape Mr. PoopyPants off the ass end of the Corsair. The Solution The side turrets on the Corsair need 10 or more degrees of movement toward the pilot's center sights to hit what the pilot is shooting at. When firing toward the rear the turrets need 20 degrees or more movement towards the aft center to hit targets directly aft. There are no obstacles preventing this from happening. This also is artificially restricted when engaging targets (Ground or air) beneath the ship as well. Can we get this fixed as a community? Whoever uses the "This is for "Balance" gets 10 demerits automatically. Watch for the White knights on this one.
