Thermonuclear doompost inbound I've been in the community for a decent amount of time, and I've taken plenty of breaks, but I don't know if I'm coming back after what direction CIG has taken as of late. 4.0 is coming out soon and I've never been less excited for the game. I don't want to sound self important, or like specifically me leaving is going to be the downfall of CIG, but I know I'm not alone in this sentiment, and that may be a problem for CIG. Almost all of my friends I got the game with haven't touched it since MM, and I've been the last holdout attempting to main this game out of my group, and its just gotten harder and harder over the past year. Half of the decisions they've made post 3.22 seems like ones made by an alien who has never launched up the PU. the UI has gotten worse, the combat (ship or ground) has gotten worse, cargo has gotten worse, even the skybox got worse over the past year lol. There has been a universal decline in quality of life and playability and I don't see most of it improving anytime soon. I could genuinely write a thesis about the amount of completely unaddressed bugs present in the current version that have persisted for YEARS now, but you all are just as aware of them as me. What finally turned me off of this game, and I'm amazed I didn't see it sooner, is their priorities. 3.24 was already nigh unplayable, and the patches were laughable at fixing any real issues, and yet they tread on with Save Stanton, IAE, and Free Fly, acting as if the servers are in ANY state to be able to handle that. And they can't, the game is utterly unplayable currently, all i could do was reset my spawn to MT, see the showroom, and not leave the planet because the spaceport elevators were bugged, this isn't even mentioning the previous repeat 30ks I experienced on the way from one place in the same city to another on foot, which shouldn't take more than a couple minutes but was a near hour long process. But instead of focusing or communicating on ANY of the litany of issues currently plaguing the PU, we get 2 big ships that are visibly rushed, and one of the worst BIS paints I've ever seen. It all just puts an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I'm okay with massive issues being present, it's an alpha. What worried me was their lack of communication regarding these problems, and what scared me was that some of these problems seem to be 'finished' in their eyes. Whether it be MM, the new UI for FPS or ships, or the cargo rework, these are more 'finished', more 'polished' features that end up doing nothing but regressing the experience of the game considerably. This is opinion based stuff, I'm not telling you to stop having fun if you are. But I just cant play the game anymore, and I know a lot of other people have silently done the same. The servers are noticeably emptier (this somehow hasnt improved performance), and the sub has taken a similarly noticeable drop in enthusiasm and volume. The seemingly new direction they seem to be taking with gameplay and content just isn't what I signed up for. I was gonna write a better conclusion, but I doubt it matters much anyways lmao. im out
