I've gotten ~10 referrals to this game over the years. Enough to get myself a Gladius even. Not one singular time was I able to tell them that Star Citizen is a good game. Every time I talked to them about it I said "make sure you research what you're getting into" or "It's going to be broken for a while likely so y'know, be ready for that". I want to tell people that Star Citizen is a good game, because in its soul, it is. The core of a game is here. The content we have? Honestly not bad. From an objective standpoint, there's hundreds of hours of various missions and mechanics around, we've just already done most of them over 6 years. But this game isn't good. The primary issues keep this game from being a good game. It's a tolerable tech demo with pretty cinematic moments, but when I watch my ship get stored only to be met with a claim message, or I watch my ship explode on the elevator, or I watch the item I just equipped snap back into my inventory for the 9th time, or I watch a bunch of naked NPC's walk out of an elevator, or turrets that don't follow IFF rules, or doors that don't open, or floors that aren't solid, or ships that don't have oxygen, or stairs that just kill you, or or or or or, there's so many or, it's tiring boss. I'm tired boss. I cannot in good faith recommend Star Citizen to anyone. Not as it sits. I could honestly kind of recommend 4.7, it worked pretty well all things considered, but then 4.8 dropped and it genuinely hasn't been worth the time investment since. It's so frustrating to see the lack of progress we're getting right now because Squadron is receiving the attention right now, but it's infinitely more frustrating that with the lack of major progress, we aren't at least getting the stability to compensate for it. I want this to succeed just as much as most of this community and developers do and I do hope to see improvement rather soon, but it's hard to be positive when this is the game we're allowed to "play". I want to have one game session. Just one. One where I can call my ship out, not have it get destroyed in the hangar, accept a contract, fly to the place, get the stuff, fly back, land, unload, and complete the mission and not have to perform 17 different workarounds just to make it work. Imagine if you could just QT somewhere and not power cycle 3 times or set your route manually a bunch just to get it to stick. Imagine if ATC picked up the first time. Imagine if you could just call your ship. Wouldn't that be nice? Is that so much to ask?
