I don't know you, but 99.99% of the time i'm in quantum between two main planetary system, i just alt-tab. I simply stop looking at the game, because there is actially no gameplay attached to quantum travel. Despite the StarEngine begin a tech marvel with no real loading screen, we are locked in a loading screen. It's controversial to me that game with much more loading screen like ED, have a better space travel experience, where you don't feel to be locked in a loading screen at all. The travel between star system is instead much more engaging, because we are in actual control of our ship, there us actual gameplay during that journey. It's the current iteration of quantum travel the final vision? If not, then what is? I don't see engineering solving this. If my ship is perfectly functionl, i should not touch anything. I don't see quantum boost solving this, since it's ten time slower than the actual quantum travel. So, are we really just supposed to forget we are playing while we are in quantum travel? Imo, before release, CIG should rethink completely how we travel across planets. The key point i see, looking at the jump point gameplay we already have and the example of other games, would be: - We should always begin able to manouver our ship freely. - Manually manouvering our ship should allow us to reach the destination faster, by constantly adjusting our acceleration/decelration value. - We should always have an autopilot similar to what happen now, so we can do other things if we need to, but the travel time will be slower because use the safe standard acceleration/deceleration value. - We should have other gameplay to do while in quantum, like scanning, maybe to find some deep space signal sources. What do you think? Are you satisfied with the quantum travel gameplay we have now?
