For a while I couldn't quite articulate why I didn't like MM but last night it hit me. I have a 110" ultra HD TV with bose ceiling surround sound and last night it stopped connecting to the internet. No problem in the kids games room we have another backup TV that's a smaller 60" but with TV speakers but no problem we can use that we thought. And it wasn't much fun downgrading to the smaller and older TV it just felt gimped. The screens blacks washed out in the sun. The sound was flat without any base. The smaller size took away rhe immersion. It just wasn't as good and it made our favourite TV show less appealing because we were so used to our normal TV. And I think this is the issue with Master Modes The old system had huge flight flexibility it allowed everyone to showcase their own flight style and perfect their craft. The flight system allowed us to show off our creativity and was an extensison of ourselves. Sure it wasn't perfect but it could probably be tweaked to a point where it would of been quite a good flight system. MM is like going backwards to the 60" TV after having the luxury of the 110" TV. When I told my brother this analogy he said "Mate it's like going back to a tiny aeroplane TV and sound system where you cant hear shit because of the plane engines and the little kid crying for half the flight. ( guess the knights will say I am the little kid crying ) where even a good movie seems like a mediocre movie. I don't think it's that bad personally but it is a noticeable couple of step changes backwards from what we had. I guess any new players that join the project and haven't had a 110" TV won't know any difference and the smaller TV will be fine. But for those of us spoilt with such a good flight model it's hard to go back to a simple cookie cutter 80s arcade system. When you have something that's quite good it's simply less enjoyable to go backwards to a lesser system and I think that's why I don't like MM it just feels like a lesser system.
