I know, I know, it's only the first iteration, and things will be better, but... Let's go one problem at a time No "Sort by" functionality. Option to sort by volume, amount, price, type, etc is important for inventory of this size. NikNax app lacks it, too. No "Search" functionality. Another must-have for this amount of loot in our boot. NikNax app, again, also lacks this feature. No "Shortcuts". Double click to carry item, Alt+double click to equip, Ctrl+double click to store, this sort of things. There is no fast way to manage your loadout (except you can move some things into hand by double click). There should be. Forced 3rd person. You're on a combat, you're out of ammo and see a box nearby. You open it in search of ammo, and your point of view shift, slightly disorienting you. That's a disadvantage that shouldn't be there, IMO, the fact that you're scavenging through a box, with inventory partially covering your view, is already enough. As an option, how about 2 levels of showing personal inventory? Purely "inventory view", without camera shift and character view. Just inventory boxes placed close to each other at one side of the screen, using "shortcuts" should eliminate the need for a character model in this view for a good portion of its use cases. And a full "equipment manager" with camera shift and character view, so a current one. No "View" options. That's not essential, and can be an artistic view, so, if it is, this point is irrelevant. We are stuck with huge icons, and I don't know why. It's not a RE kind of inventory where volume is represented by the size of the grid, it's a list of items. Why can't we switch to a list view? Preferably with small icons representing the type of the item. NikNax app wastes quite a lot of space by not having view options, btw... on top of wasted space. No "Select and move". Dragging and dropping 1 item type at a time is painfully slow. An option to select multiple items and move them at the same time would be nice. Really nice. No clear "Gear slots". Dragging items on your character nice and all, but there are some frustrating problems, like "is this my hip slot, or my hand slot"? IDK, the only way to find out is to commit to equipping something into it, or sometimes to move the camera around. At least use different icons for different parts of the body/armour, like a hand in a circle for a hand slot, "Λ" in a circle for leg slots, "T" in a circle for torso slots, something like that. Also, un-equiping gear is a tricky point-an-click adventure atm (see img 2-5) "You are blocking a landing pad". When you land somewhere, you're on a clock if you want to manage your ship's inventory. Maybe there is a workaround for that, but the only one I was able to find is storing and calling back your ship, cuz this gives you more time than when you land. NikNax is almost un-usable in current state. It not only lacks needed functionality (like where is even "X out of Y pages"), it also doesn't stack items... We already have pages upon pages filled with "CF-337 Panther Repeater" (see img 6) and such already, how will it look in a month if not changed? Combining them into stacks is a must. Adding the option to expand the stack to see individual items in it would be good, especially when we'll have things like module health and upgrades. The option to see what is equipped on a gun or stored in a specific backpack (or any other storable container) by expanding it would also be nice. Extremely spotty persistence. You lose items by trying to equip them, you lose them by storing them, you lose them by... IDK, they just became grey and unusable sometime. You lose item by re-logging on a station! I'd say I lost about 20% of everything I bought and collected so far to this. There is a limit (?) on how many items your local inventory can show! What? Why? For example, with all filters off, I can see only 2 undersuits there, but if I filter by undersuits I'll see all ~10 that I own! I just did a test inventory transfer from planet to planet. Got all my things from Crusader, put them into A2 and dropped them at Hurston. It surfaced and highlighted additional problems: When you drag and drop items, you NEED to drop them onto unoccupied space. If you drop them on top of an item, those 2 items will swap places. There seems to be a dynamic limit (intentional or not) on how many items you can transfer per "inventory management session". At first I was able to move ~15 items before new items started refusing a transfer and, thus, required me to close the inventory and open it again. After a few minutes, this number dropped to 2(!). A few minutes later this number dropped to 0(!!!) and the only way to bypass this, that I found, was: move an item from inventory A onto your character, close and open inventory again, move the item from your character to the inventory B. Icons start to break very fast. After you move ~10 items, icons of items start to merge with each other, swap from one item to another, and so on. This completely negates the advantage of this type of system - being able to distinguish which items are which by just a glance. I spent more than 2 hours doing that, so you don't have to. :3 All in all, current status of personal inventory is slow, tedious, and, personally, inconvenient. I'm sure some, or maybe all, of those things I listed are planned and in the works right now. Just wanted to leave my feedback on how things are now, so maybe they'll become better in future.
