(made the OP clearer) The new patch is suppose to bring a new feature (which was present in the w patch as well but people thought it was an annoying bug): Quantum drives now have a maximum range per jump that varies depending on the size of the drive. Some longer jumps may require more than one quantum travel cycle right now as this system is still undergoing some tuning/balance. Why? Fuel capacity is an already pretty good restrictive factor, now you're forcing us to have to do a single jump in multiple cycles? What's the point? How does this add to the experience by having to hit the QT button 3 times before I reach Delamar from Port Olisar in a Titan Stalker? How is this suppose to make me enjoy the game better or make the traveling time more meaningful? In my opinion limited cycle range on quantum drives, regardless of the fuel capacity, add nothing positive to the experience of traveling. Realism and immersion should never come before player convenience. There's also the problem of quantum linking between different ships, how the escorts (fighters) might not be able to keep up with the ship they're suppose to protect (like a freighter), and how this hurts the players who are not interested in large multi-crew ships the most. My suggestion is to get rid of the cycle range and let us be able to jump uninterrupted, assuming we have the fuel. Make upgrading the quantum drive be still something important to do but also meaningful. Upgrading the quantum drive, instead of cycle range, should provide you with: higher traveling speed better fuel efficiency (more range) lower signature (stealth) lower spooling/calibration time lower down/cooling time lower maintenance requirements Along side these, and the option to overclock your QD, let us also have the option of using better types of fuel to further increase for example the efficiency of the quantum drive (or any other attribute). Thank you to all who contributed to the discussion in a meaningful way! The new patch is suppose to have a new feature. Quantum drives now have a maximum range per jump that varies depending on the size of the drive. Some longer jumps may require more than one quantum travel cycle right now as this system is still undergoing some tuning/balance. Why? At first you give us rather small fuel tanks for our ships, now you're forcing us to have to do a single jump in multiple cycles? What's the point besides frustrating the player? How does this add to the experience exactly by having to hit the QT button 3 times before I reach Delamar? How is this suppose to make me enjoy the game better? I said it before and I'll say it again, realism and immersion should never come before player convenience. Right now I see there's a push towards something that doesn't add to the overall experience in any meaningful way just for the sake of it (along with high prices for ships in a dead economy with no real income possibilities). The dev team should ask themselves, if the average Joe gets to play this game for about 2 hours a day, will he love the idea of spending a significant part of that time just to move around in order to do stuff? Pointless long traveling time is pointless no matter how you paint it. Limits, for the sake of limits, are also pointless. Edit: What exactly is wrong with being able to jump uninterrupted, assuming you have the fuel, while the size, grade and class of the quantum drive dictates the stealth, efficiency and speed of the travel?
