I will start by saying that I entirely dislike master modes. I was, by no means, an ace pilot. I just liked to fly around and I believe master modes has certainly reduced the enjoyment of flying most of my ships in any capacity. I was just looking at the "master modes guide", and while reading the SCM section, I noticed that they mention precisely what I do not find coherent about the new master modes system. It states "The maximum speed of all ships is capped to ensure the optimal balance between forward thrust and maneuverability." Perhaps this is logical for atmospheric flight, but as for space flight, I do not see how it is coherent for a ships forward thrust to be limited in the name of maneuverability. Rather, it is contradictory. From my understanding, In the vacuum of space, a ships maneuverability is determined solely by its thrust. Need I say, there should be no drag in space.... Why make ships fly as though such drag exists? For example, a ship in space should be able to reach top speed and rotate 180 degrees while still traveling at that speed in the original direction. That is the understood physics of flight in a vacuum. It seems they want to throw physics out the window in the name of skill floor and ceiling. Am I the only one that does not think that is a worth while trade off?? I thought the previous flight model was getting very close to being a dynamic well balanced, and FUN flight model. I suggest we revert to the previous, coherent, model and continue to tweak it. I believe the problems they aimed to fix with this model can be solved within the previous further developed flight model.
