I am genuinely struggling to understand how anyone green light this. You had the right idea then UTTERLY destroyed it the moment you started turning off shields. It is absolutely beyond me how anyone thought this was okay. Does anyone in the space combat team fly a large ship? Ever? Or do they just spawn them into a combat site to beat up? Okay, venting done, let me get to the point. Forcing shields to be disabled outside of SCM mode is a horrifically bad decision that just remarkably detached from the reality of any ship that is not a fighter. How in any sensible manner does it make sense to say "oh you are flying to an unmarked bunker that you can not QT for I BETTER TURN OFF MY SHIELDS SO THAT IT DOES NOT TAKE ME A MONTH OF FLIGHT TIME TO SHOW UP." Or better yet "I want to fly my reclaimer to a station at anything more than 77m/s, I better just open up the entire ship to hull damage or death so that I can get to the space port this year before I run out of fuel trying to exit the atmosphere." Seriously, space combat team: STOP THINKING ABOUT EVERYTHING IN TERMS OF FIGHTERS. STOP IT ALREADY. YOUR ACTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES ON THE OTHER MAJORITY OF SHIPS IN THE GAME. You know, I woke up today knowing I was going to be upset with the space combat team... I just knew they were going to post some horrifically out of touch "cure all" that was going to make everything worse. I knew that was going to happen. I was not expecting to be this upset about the inevitability of being so regularly ignored and watching them barrel head first into terrible ideas despite feedback, completely bereft and out of touch with the other majority of gameplay. TLDR: Don't turn off shields for quantum mode. Maybe at absolute worst turn off regen. But turning off shields is just a horrifically bad idea.
