Just like the Berlin Wall, the Soviet Union, and Elite Dangerous: Odyssey on consoles. Just deal with it... Right? Wait... Maybe it is I heard from someone that Jared said in SCL that if there are enough complaints, Master Modes may yet be reverted. Edit: Here, Jared addresses some anti-MM sentiment and says that MM would be tweaked according to community feedback. While he did not explicitly say that it would be reverted, he said that MM was no different than any other feature. This SCL video was 6 months ago before the backlash against MM reached its contemporary heights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r90yk1s9e-Y&ab_channel=StarCitizen&t=33m00s I've also seen Yogi on Avenger Squadron Discord reiterate that CIG "are not done yet with any of the combat or flight development", indicating the possibility of reverting to an older FM. CIG are still reiterating that nothing is fixed, and the only constant is change. I have seen much less controversial changes be reversed in Star Citizen... It does not even matter which FM they revert to. Literally all the older flight models are light years superior to MM and would constitute an improvement over the current FM. Perhaps the question is not about if MM is abolished, but when. CIG has reverted less controversial things for upsetting players, so why not MM too? What happened? Master Mode happened - a big blow to realism and flight experience for many players. But then, a few days ago, Yogi has made this post: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/3/thread/weapon-groups-do-not-persist-between-flight-modes-/7152617 This has prompted a bit of a backlash, considering that Yogi does not acknowledge any of the anti-MM criticism. In fact, his words imply that CIG are rather very happy with MM. But... Don't we have a say either? Is CIG management not aware of how many players are unhappy? Why are they pushing MM down our throats and allowing it to continue to ruin our flight experience despite all the feedback we're giving? Many racers, low flyers, flight enthusiasts, and PvP combat pilots have been left behind and alienated by MM, their experience ruined. We have been promised realism but it was taken away from us. When are our voices going to reach CIG management? What do we want? There are many other sentiments, but here is my pick, the last of which is from me: - Any acknowledgement of the anti-MM criticism from CIG. To my knowledge, Yogi has only acknowledged the criticisms that are pro-MM in nature. - Be open to SQ42 and SC having different flight models, reverting to the 3.22.1 or 3.12 FM, and tweaking it to eliminate its flaws. - Get rid of the egg-shaped acceleration model because it's responsible for making nose fighting the only dominant form of dogfight. - Implement more optional flight assists to reduce jousting and improve the experience for players who aren't flight enthusiasts. - Do not simplify the flight model to appease the masses. Skill should remain an important factor in racing and combat. - Empower the community by creating a better tutorial. The current in-game tutorial falls very short compared to the cinematic and beautiful 2015 flight tutorial - you know, the tutorial that actually explained how PIPs work. You'd be surprised how many players hated the old FM simply because nobody taught them how it works. - Incentivize training by extending the guide system to teaching players how to race or dogfight, and reward players with certificates, Spectrum badges, or similar. Gamify the learning experience and turn it into cult status. Just do anything. Master Modes cannot stay like that. This isn't some random game, this is Star Citizen, the best game ever. CIG, you can do much better than that! Spectrum Citizen Is this the new Star Citizen? Hanging around on Spectrum trying to save Star Citizen from its designated fate as Mode Citizen? I'd much rather play Star Citizen but Spectrum Citizen is not so bad either. At least I don't have to deal with speed walls, asymmetrical speed zones and egg-shaped flight models here. At least we anti-MM players are earning good karma. I wonder, if we all put our karma together, can we purchase the 3.22.1 flight model back into existence? No Hate I stand against any hate against CIG or the pro-MM community. I'm a proud Concierge member and a Star Citizen shill who loves everything about Star Citizen (except a certain flight model). I either condone or support every single major decision CIG has made... except MM. And I love the community. Star Citizen has a nearly flawless track record IMO, except Master Modes. It's obvious that the FM is not CIG's top priority, that they just wanted to ship SQ42 ASAP and prioritize the work on Server Meshing. And while this is understandable considering that Server Meshing is a revolutionary technology, neglecting the flight model like this is a big mistake that results in an inferior player experience. Considering how unhappy many parts of the community are with MM, the need for a response from CIG grows by the day. Will MM be removed? As the saying goes: Hope springs eternal!
