Note: This is just my personal opinion, feel free to disagree and explain why. We need constructive criticism on MM now more than ever. That said, this is just how I personally feel about the current state (In wave 1 EPTU) of MM. - Strafing in 1 VS 1 dogfighting is an issue more than ever. This problem already exists in LIVE, but MM makes it even worse. Strafing means that two ships dogfighting will usually lock in a nose-on-nose "staring" dance. You can't really get behind them, you're just circling around each other and it turns to a raw dps contest. Not really flight skills. While this is already an issue in the LIVE build, MM makes it worse because the SCM limit LOCKS both ships in that dance. Currently, you can disengage, break that dance and try to get a better angle. But not with MM. I'm not saying fighting at SCM is bad, but this amplifies the ship strafing combat style (that is NOT a classic WWII combat style despite what some may be saying) which is just dull and boring. Strafing in SCM mode should be significantly reduced to put more emphasis on the main rear thrusters instead. To emphasize skills such as: Spatial awareness, executing complex maneuvers to position yourself either aggressively or defensively. I don't mind a WWII style of combat, but contrary to what people may believe, MM isn't giving us that. What we have is essentially a dull "staring contest" where the ship with the most DPS will win. - Non-Combat ships gain nothing from MM in its current state. In fact, it makes everything worse. Just switching between the modes makes everything more tedious for no real benefit or reason. While the switch between a combat and Nav mode might make sense for combat, this does not translate well to other modes like Mining, scrapping etc... Or even things like just exploring and flying casually. MM for players that have no interest in combat is a net negative. It brings nothing positive to justify its existence, while making even the most simple of activities more difficult and tedious. - Industrial/Non-combat medium to large ships should not lose their shields in Nav mode. This is an example of a MM feature that makes sense for combat ships (Try to run away from combat and you lose your shield.), but not for non-combat/industrial ones. A caterpillar in SCM mode: Totally powerless to fend off an attack (Makes sense, it's not a combat ship) A caterpillar in NAV mode: Totally powerless to survive an attack before it can run away (especially with missiles and torpedoes.). I understand that escape should be harder than how it is in the live build, but this is too extreme for these ships. They pretty much have zero chance to survive anything. I think removing the ability to use flares and weapons in nav mode for medium to large industrial ships is enough. They should keep their shields, however, to at least give them a SLIGHT chance of survive and escape an attack. (It also makes more sense, larger industrial ships have more efficient power plants etc... It would make sense that even in NAV mode, they don't need to lose their shield. While fighters, that use more performance components, can't keep everything on at the same time. And thus, the shields have to be turned off in combat mode). - Multi-Crew combat ships like the HH and Redeemer should have gained from MM, but they are in an even worse state now. Because of the big nerfs of the mobility of these ships, and the very poor range of their turrets, they are more useless than ever. Multi-crew ships have a much higher crew requirement. That should translate in their combat abilities. This is even worse now. Which is baffling considering that MM was supposed to fix this very issue. All and all. I don't think MM should be cancelled (yet). But it needs a LOT of work before it's in a reasonable state and make it to LIVE.
