I am sorry to say it, but every piece of the new UI released this year had serious UX issues and this trend continues with MFDs, reaching new peaks. I always tend to be constructive, but this time I will just go straight. Of course, there are things I like, but this post is not about them. It's about why I rage-quit the game yesterday after starting another PTU patch. So here we go: CRT aesthetic is BAD. Just BAD. It fully showed on MFDs with constant moves and shakes. Screens are just a pain to look at. They cause massive eyestrain. Half of things are not readable in critical time. I got it, it comes from the era Star Citizen takes most inspiration. The classic sci-fi. But you should not follow it blindly. And it may sound funny because by playing the game in THAT state, the blindness feels one step closer. This is NOT about time. This is about design CHOICES. This is a GAME. NOT a movie. You seriously need to prioritize FUNCTION over form. You badly need more senior UX people. Short pre-rendered high-quality in-game videos look always cool. But at the end of the day, people are playing your game on various machines for hours, interacting with your interfaces at every step. And not because they look cool, but because they expect them to function. To help them achieve something. Preferably with zero real pain. To provide a compromise, CRT-like aesthetic could stay in other places like Fleet Manager because while it has the same issues, it's used significantly less often. P.S. I love how much you can see from the cockpit now.
