Has it been long enough to say it? I don't like the new inventory. Sure it's flashy and all but it feels clunky to use. It covers most of your screen. You can't drag weapons or armor to where you want them, you have to drag things to little icons on the side instead. There are tabs on the equipment side that are a pain in the ass to deal with. Hovering over said tabs with an equipment item doesn't change the tab for some reason. Filters are additive instead of exclusionary for some reason. It has nearly all the same issues the previous inventory had. Inventory management is an absolute nightmare with different tabs PER ARMOR PIECE. For some reason you insist on using 3d models inside a 2d interface causing intense pop in when it really should just be a png of the item instead. For all the gains we received with this new inventory it sure feels like we took just as many steps backwards. It feels less like we're interacting with our character and more like we're using a menu from 2006. How to fix: Make the inventory slightly more opaque. It feels like entering a tunnel. If I drag a chestplate over my chest, equip it. I shouldn't need a precise little icon on the side. If I'm hovering over the tool's or equipment tab on the left side of my screen with a multitool in hand, SWAP THE TAB OVER FOR ME. Don't make me drop my item back into the inventory just to swap a tab. Filters need to only be the thing you selected, not what you selected previously. If I click undersuit and equip one and then click the filter for core piece, IT'S BECAUSE I ONLY WANT CORE PIECES. The bugs are plenty, work on them. The old system wasn't perfect, I'll admit it, scroll bar inside scroll bar isn't a good solution, but tabs between armor pieces isn't it either. There has to be some kind of compromise. Get rid of this 3d model thing you have. It's just such a waste of performance and player time. Waiting for icons to pop in to see that it's not even the thing you want gets really old, really fast. The new inventory's UI is pretty decent, but from a UX perspective it sucks. Quality of life fixes would go a really long way towards making the system feel better. Before I get accused of only hating on the thing, the new weapon and multitool attachment area is PREEM. Good work on that. Much better than hoping to find and click it on a player model.
