Ongoing saga of '"Air Traffic Controller Reviews MFD design" One general rule of user friendliness is to eliminate mental steps. In other words: The more "No-Brainers" the better. The OLD: You had only two weapon groups and two triggers: LMB & RMB, and also the option to use them both by pressing them both. But, the muscle memory was only two fold: LMB + RMB because each button never changes what it does <-- Mental memory ! The New: You have only one LMB which might sound like it's simpler at first but then all the newly added mental and physical steps set in: What is this LMB currently doing ? (<-- mental step). I have to look at the HUD/MFD to confirm the current LMB assignment (<-- physical step) Do I need to alter the LMB assignment either by scrolling up or scrolling down ? (<-- mental step) I need to confirm my LMB alteration by looking at the HUD/MFD readout (<-- physical step). Questions: Did I need to change the LMB ? Did I scroll in the right direction ? Did I perhaps scroll a little too far ? Why do I have to think so much ? VERDICT : This new one-trigger multi-scroll functionality ADDS more steps and therefore completely fails on its core foundation. The old method wasn't broken. Nobody complained (afaik) that the old method needed changing <-- "If it aint broke ..." Go back to keeping it Simple, LMB + RMB. As for the zoom-in precision mode: that can be assigned to any other keybind. Dedicated PVPers will have fancy flightsticks with lots of buttons. I use a gaming mouse + Tartarus. Anyone who is not so dedicated to playing the game can make do without a precision mode at first.
