theres no official feedback thread on this event up from cig so heres some feedback i was lawful side in hammerhead turret. hh got attacked by a valkyrie who showed up as blue to begin with, then went red ( @Sid67 ) timestamp 14:00 https://youtu.be/GNz_rgj8Pnk?t=840 shot and killed what looked for all the world like an enemy ship (red on targeting indicator, actively shooting the ship, being engaged by other turrets and pilot) i didnt get any friendly fire warnings because the ship was red got 2x homicide charges soon after, turning parent hammerhead red to all other friendly players lost the mission due to having crimestat decided to just exit the turret, suicide to grimhex and surrender (i actually got into a fight with a lightning at port olisar afterwards https://youtu.be/fXdeZgJtkIs ) and go to prison and stop playing the game because the event would be over by the time i got out of prison after 2 homicide charges, and it's not possible to sell gems in prison due to the bug with backpack storage affecting the list of locations to sell from, and o2 missions rarely spawn this actually worked fine for me this time around clearing crimestat at kareah would have been a possibility but would also have taken too long so i decided not to do it suiciding this way allowed the hh to become blue again later on, the pilot of the hammerhead i was in got an assault on security personnel charge despite not colliding with or locking a security npc with missiles. i suppose some splash damage from a missile may have hit a security NPC and caused that charge, but its not really possible to tell why did this happen? if a ship is red, it should be clear that they have committed an act of aggression against you, and that you can defend yourself. if the ship is red, but you kill them and get crimestat for homicide, that means that the ship that was red had at least one occupant without a crimestat. the only way you can tell whether a ship has occupants without crimestat is by using the new scanning feature, which is not available in turrets. there is not enough time to do this in the middle of combat anyway this is probably open to abuse. have a non criminal player in your ship, attack another ship, go red on their screen since you damaged them, get killed by them, they get crimestat and lose the mission immediately how could this be fixed? it may not be a good idea to tie red colour/hostile status directly to crimestat, because then if you were attacked by a ship, it would remain blue and not targetable using the hostile target keybinds until it did enough damage to you to count as a criminal charge, but honestly that might be a good indicator that you're "allowed" to fight back at that point. right now its not really possible to tell when you can "legally" respond to a threat. this also doesnt account for a ship that has players in it without crimestat. maybe the death of the lawful player inside a ship that went hostile should be blamed on the pilot of the hostile ship? this is probably also open to abuse some way that I'm not thinking about right now after mentioning this to @CaptainBerks (who had just killed a red ship that had been claimed, but which was transporting players without CS, and therefore giving him CS https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1119373006?t=02h02m40s watch until 02:04:30), a suggestion of a separate colour being used to denote hostiles who are not criminal was raised. so blue is friendly, white is neutral, yellow or some other colour is a non-criminal hostile (due to damaging your ship etc.), and red is a criminal (automatically hostile). that way you can decide whether you can engage them back
