I'm not some insane fighter pilot with 20 years in the Air Force, so I'm not 100% on what i SHOULD be experiencing, I just want to give my experience from how it feels from my end, when i log in to play for a bit. First, the SCM limiter drag in space is weird and feels completely off. In space, I should be able to maintain speed in a direction when decoupled from my thrusters. This just feels bad to me when i lose 300 SCM just because of magic game mechanics. In atmosphere, sure, but space... what ever. Feels bad, personally. This also makes interceptors, and ships with insane loadouts (f7a), impossible to deal with. Not enough speed to avoid incoming damage, with enough time to make a reasonable escape, to reset the fight. There's zero chance your turning around to win that fight, when a couple blasts and your shields are gone, at the current SCM speeds you would be lucky to switch to NAV and get out of there. (BUT if i could maintain the speed I built already while decoupled and spin around, I can engage this target without losing my thrust vector at the speed that I am currently hurling myself in, and force the enemy into making their own deflections requiring them to move off of the vectors i am currently moving in). I don't like having to switch to NAV mode every time I run out of boost, because I know I can no longer be effective at making deflections from enemy fire, most directly related to when I am being attacked while engaging an enemy. To be honest, the Boost system is apart of the problem. Literally slamming that key in every fight, and then running away when its empty, is the only way to be effective with it, and because its so effective, you HAVE to do it. In 3.22, you could move fast enough to regenerate it mid combat, making it a SKILL to manage boost and weapons and shields more effectively. Now any sign of boost depleting, or shields, you just run. I don't like that every time I do go into NAV mode, I immediately get locked by rockets.... this rinse repeat style gameplay is boring. I find myself, NAV BOMBING people, because it seems to be the most effective way to win fights. Fly in as fast as possible, switch to SCM mode, which has a built in mechanic to immediately drop your speed, even if your going 1400 LOL. So you can just POP in and deal damage, and then as soon as you GET damage, you POP out into nav mode. Its basically jousting with extra steps. IE SCM FLARE/FIRE> NAV DISENGAGE > SMC FLARE/FIRE > NAV DISENGAGE >... you get the point I miss being able to fly and shoot, and evade, and jump. It took skill to take a player down without them escaping, it took skill to evade while being attacked by skilled pilots. It was also FUN AS HELL, and there has to be value in that, because right now it is NOT fun at all. This current model feels clunky, and the audio feedback from switching to nav from scm, adds to that clunky behavior by making an in-game noise confirming the jank. If this is what you guys want internally, sure, what ever makes YOU happy. But for FUN, and I guess I am speaking for myself here when I say this, I don't think this is fun at all compared to the old system. To put it in simply, I don't like the training wheels on my brand new Ducati, even if I crash and die with it, I want to feel the power I paid for. There are always going to be people that cant drive the Ducati as fast as someone with experience, THATS OKAY, because not everyone needs to be a pro to enjoy what the Ducati has to offer. Let me FLY again... all these beautiful master pieces, with training wheels on them is CRAZY, and I feel bad for anyone who doesn't see how much freedom we lost with MM being the new method of flying. RIP 3.22
