Hello devs… my name is justZoot, and I am in leadership in Blightveil, a large PvP org. In addition to being a bit of a hardened criminal myself, it’s my job to keep a large group of pirates and PvP players armed, armored and out of prison. I am posting because of the changes to prison merit transfers. Like most in the PvP community, I applaud your efforts to remove duping and exploiting and to hamper real-money trade for aUEC. However, the changes you’ve implemented this last patch have completely destroyed the prison merit trade. People may be unaware, and I’m sure a lot of players are going to disapprove, but the PvP community until recently had a robust underground economy trading prison merits. It was common for each PvP org to have a prison merit bank, and when we fight each other, often we use those banked merits to get our people back in the fight quickly. Because we often use bounty hunting contracts to find each other, prison time is something we have to manage in our battles with each other. However, your changes in the last patch cap prison merit transfers to 10k merits per trade, and they are further capped at roughly 40k per day. A max prison sentence is about 24 hours, which requires about 90k merits. With your changes, I cannot get someone with a max sentence out without using 3 separate prison alt accounts. And that’s just one person; it’s not uncommon to have multiple people end up in prison during a fight. Of course, trading prison merits between orgs (which is something we used to do) is likewise completely nerfed – it’s not worth anyone’s time to sell such small quantities of merits between organizations. Was this intentional? It’s one thing to say crime should have consequences. It’s another to say that even though PvP organizations are making huge investments of time and resources into managing prison sentences, that’s not punitive enough and the mechanisms we use to transfer merits should be severely restricted, with the result that the game is substantially less fun for PvP players. To the best of my knowledge - and I think I would know if it were otherwise - real money trading in prison merits has never been a problem. This change is a solution in search of a problem that doesn't really exist and it's nerfed a small part of the player economy that harms the PvP community almost exclusively. Please, CIG – if you must impose merit transfer limits, make the individual transaction limit at least 90k to accommodate the magnitude of a maximum single sentence, and the daily limit much higher – at least 500k. This allows PvP orgs to use merit banks to manage their prison sentences and to trade merits between orgs at a reasonable scale as an additional economy creating game play. Better yet, abolish the merit transfer limits entirely; this has never been a real-money trading problem in star citizen involving prison merits.
