I understood that a PTU build was always going to have issues but the lack of communication is just a huge kick in the nads. Everyone here has experienced the issues: - poor frame rates - constant crashes - unable to connect well, where is the official CIG response? Where is the explanation as to what is causing the low frame rates and inability to connect. These are huge issues but I havent heard a single peep out of CIG regarding it. If they gave us an explanation then I would possibly understand but over the last two weeks they've made a series of videos to boost sales during the anniversary sale with various members of staff from a variety of teams but not one video explaining the problems with the PTU or why the performance is so bad. To me it looks like they know they have a problem but have decided to keep quiet about it because they dont have a solution or because there's been a c**k up, kind of in the same way they said Star Marine was days away from release and then binned the entire thing because all the assets were the wrong size. What really puzzles me though is why they are in this position. They are using AWS to host the online services which means if the servers are too full they can provision more from amazon, which means it must be something else. Have CIG promised too much and realised that all this new revolutionary tech is actually more than their servers/ our PCs can handle? Is CIG keeping quiet because there's some huge issue that cant be fixed? Now I know this is all wild speculation but without an actual statement from CIG I'm left speculating. To be honest, I would be happy if someone from the development staff just wrote a message on here that said "Sorry, the demand was more than we anticipated and our PTU isnt configured to add new servers.", then i would be fine because I would understand why things arent working and what is being done to fix it. Now I know I'm going to have some of you fan boys defending CIG till my ears bleed but I've worked on large projects where Ive been in a PM position and if I was as far off with timelines, deliverables or if I misled the customer like CIG do with us, then I would have been out of my job in seconds. In short, this post is my grumble at CIG.
