Greetings, We have introduced the assisted gimbal mechanic to all ships with gimbals mounted. Assisted gimbals attempt to automatically track targets within a cone in front of the ship. The cone is designated by a dashed circle, which is separated into two when the gimbals do not have a lock on the target and closes into a single circle when they develop a lock. This mode can be cycled to via the "R" key. The intent of this mechanic is to allow joystick/gamepad pilots to make use of gimbaled weapons and to allow a simple aiming system for starting players, but ultimately at the top level players should be encouraged to move to more manual controlled setups, such as purely fixed weapons. Additionally, feel free to let us know how the balance of manually controlled gimbals is fitting into this broader context. Another thing to keep in mind, do fixed weapons need to have their targeting improved to keep up with how these are functioning rather than vice versa? We recognize this is may need balance and tuning to get right and that's something we will need your help with. All of the following values can be tuned by design: Angle the cone operates within Speed the gimbals track within the cone Speed at which targets are acquired or reacquired Power usage for this mode and for using manual gimbals Range of gimbal motion within assist mode Let us know what kind of changes, if any, you think it needs! -Baior RSI Player Experience Analyst
