Look, we can all agree this is stupid. You spend a huge amount of time prepping a crewed hammerhead and get it to the AO, just for it to be destroyed in 1 second by a suicidal gladius who then wakes up in a hab with no penalty after wiping out 7 guys -potentially sending them to jail if they were CS'ed. Multi-crewing is highly discouraged now because anything from a Constellation up is easy prey for an opportunistic rammer. Most of the time its intentional, sometimes its accidental because the enemy pilot doesn't know how to fly and thinks jousting is the only method of combat because they have no idea what up strafe is, can't dodge fire by boosting in SCM on multiple vectors, and/or what the decouple button does. the simple matter is, easy kills on large ships filled with players needs to stop. Multi-crew ships need to be force multipliers in a combat engagement, not gigantic coffins that are taken out by a single mustang alpha going over 700. Ultimately, we understanding that there are likely some camps in CiG that want ramming to be a legitimate tactic but in order for this to work, the full gambit of Death of a Spaceman needs to be in play. If you ram and destroy a larger ship with a single seat fighter, with DoaSM the penalties should be extreme -likely being full character death with no regeneration. This leads to the great stories, where one player turned the tide of the battle with an epic self-sacrifice knowing they were going to reroll and lose everything for their decision. But those mechanics are NOT here and we need a solution TODAY. There is a simple, effective, and braindead easy fix that will make this problem go away immediately with minimal game impact. That solution is to simply allow the larger ships to win the collision with minimal to no damage. If you ram a larger ship one class above you with a smaller ship, you die and they don't. Problem solved immediately. Ramming is discouraged and its not like large slowboat multicrew ships like the redeemer are going to ram faster and nimble single seat fighters like the arrow -who can avoid their flight path easily.
