Dear VET great change in course with combat speeds and awesome that we are being given a way to promote less nose to nose combat by giving a soft speed limit especially in the forward direction along with the retro nerf when boosting. Finally having a counter to the range kite fighting will be most welcome and very much looking forward to getting this in our hands as it represents the game I and many others originally backed. Also was happy to see that large ship combat is being approached from a more naval perspective instead of trying to force them to fight the same as fighters just slower and easier to hit. All in all great things to hear. While we don't know enough to have the full picture and clearly from statements made in the presentation nothing is set in stone yet with the finer details but I was wondering if all this is taking into account more then 1v1 combat? There was a statement made that 1v1 is more contrived so it sounds like 1v1 is not the only thing being thought about here which is great but still brings questions. The reason I ask is larger fights (talking just fighters to keep it simple) positional combat and geometry is not as much of a thing especially in a 6DoF environment. Sure it still plays its part but at a much smaller scale since these fights tend to be more about the ability to put DPS on a ship along egress and chase/intercepting skill in the current game which thankfully will be toned down with these changes but presents a new set of issues. How do you guys see 5v5 or 10v10 or even larger fights taking place? Will aim and DPS be more important then flight skill? Will pilots have a way to zig and zag through 10 fighters shooting them and survive if they have enough flight skill and know what they are doing? Are we moving back to twitchy pips and flight since nothing was said about adding jerk to the FM again and lower speeds tend to lead to more pip wiggle and jerky flight? When we add capital ships to large fights what's the ranges that these fights take place? 2km? 5km? 10km? Would look a little silly imo to have two 1km long war ships having to be within 1km of each other to hit each other so just curious if weapon ranges and velocities will be effected here to allow for larger distances and how that effects fighters too? Will non-combat solo players have ways to escape when QT jammed from entering this new QM mode that opens up above SCM speeds? Will solo player bounty hunters have a way to trap their bounty at SCM without needing to use a special ship or gun effectively nerfing their ability to engage their bounty? Anyway I'm sure there are other concerns and questions that I and others have but for me this is the right move and very much looking forward to it. Keep up the great work CIG and if you happen to be able to answer any of these questions I'd love to hear it. Thanks for reading o7
