I came here to heelp do a little alpha/beta testing. I spent a lot of money for the "privelege" of being here. I'm an adult player with a real life and only a few hours a day to spend on extra curricular stuff like gaming. This morning, I decided to pad my bank account and do my standard trade run -> Olisar spawn -> Hydroponic -> Mine -> Olisar in my Drake. Trading is the only way I've ever made money, every single mission I've attempted has ended in failure or abandoment, and frequently a cntl-alt-delete to unfreeze the game if not a CTD. We know its alpha, that is cool. So I spawn in, order up my insurance claim on my drake, stand around 8 minutes. I get the food part of my trade run done 10-15 minutes I guess? I land at the mining site, no one around, execute my trade, walk outside, and an unidentified ship that was nowhere around when I landed is now hovering at a medium range 800m or so. He waits until I am halfway between the door of the facility and my ship and guns me dead in my footsteps. To my knowledge: I have no way of knowing who it was, no way of getting even, and he can fly away and clear his crime stat in a few minutes? I donate 30-45 minutes of my real life to execute two takeoffs, two landings, and mostly watch stars and planetscape fly by for 15 minutes, cause there is nothing else to do without screwing up the afterburner cruise, and all at 20 FPS if I am lucky. How much further testing do you think I am really interested in participating in? Is Star Citizen trying to simulate a real economy? How many mines, hydroponics farms, etc would stay in simulated "business" if every five ships is a pirate that just kills everyone because its "fun"? Longterm RSI, unless you get some real "good player/white-hat player" protections and meaningful crime persistence and real penalties/deterents QUICKLY, how many "desirable" players are going to hang around and help Alpha test? I'm very worried that very soon all you will have are the worst of the worst, cowards and kids, the kind that make strafing runs on pedestrians, because they're bored and have no real downside to misbehaving, and that is all the feedback you will get in Alpha, because I am certainly going to spend my limited free gaming hours somewhere else if this is going to be the status quo for the next 6-12 months.
