After a few weeks in 3.23 enjoying the new interface, a number of problems have arisen, particularly when playing in groups. I've taken the time to compile all this feedback, which sums up some of the things that need to be improved quickly to perfect this new version and make it much easier to read. Don't hesitate to add other suggestions in response if I've overlooked something! Illustration of the problem : Link to replays with timers to illustrate: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2154970895?t=05h25m26s https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2151472404?t=05h06m12s https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2149879176?t=03h11m49s The colour code for ship markers needs to be rework as a PRIORITY Group members in GREEN whatever happens. Neutral ship in BLUE or ORANGE in unsecured zone/out of comm array to indicate the danger of encounters. Empty ship in WHITE. Hostile ship in RED. Add a colour-blind mode with adapted colours or at best a customisable colour code. In addition to these changes... If the members of the group can be identified by the colour code, use the option to deactivate the display of the group members' nicknames! The crimstat must be identified by something other than the colour of the target (for example an icon next to its nickname). A highlight or a glow for the icons of the ships that are targeting us. It must be possible to deactivate off-screen target points in the options depending on the type of target (neutral, group, hostile, etc). The off-screen target indicator must be in the same orbit as the off-screen ship icon. Improving the visibility of the current target in general. When selecting a ship, replace the player's name with the ship's name as a priority (with the possible exception of group members?)! The player's name must be identifiable in another way, via a scan, or on another more discreet part of the interface (future HUD or MFD?). In addition to the visual flood, seeing players' names causes real hard focus problems for anyone who is at least a little famous in the verse (pvp player, streamer, etc). Our nickname isn't displayed when we're in FPS, so it must be the same when we're in a ship. If the ship is in soft death, replace its name with "wreck" or something similar or an icon. There's no need to display the names of players/ships you don't have in target! Only the arrow to indicate the presence of a ship and possibly its distance. Option to activate/deactivate the speed differential on the target. Other changes to be made for group member nickname Only displayed if in the direct field of view in FPS (selectable settings). Deactivates for group members in a ship/vehicle (selectable settings). Bind to enable or disable all group nickname. Bind to enable or disable the entire HUD. Hostility between players needs to be improved, for the sake of readability, understanding and gameplay. PvP hostility should be reviewed so that all people in the same group become hostile if just one player becomes hostile. Pilot as crew member. At least for those nearby. The idea is that when you face a grouped enemy fleet, all the ships in that fleet appear red to you. We need to be able to shoot down a criminal target, even if there's a non-criminal passenger in the ship, without taking a crimstat. Targeting and PIN system If you remove the display of nicknames on ships, you'll need another way of managing group focus. Make the PIN system work for the whole group! There's no need to do anything complicated. The pings are shared: if one member PIN a target as 1, all the other members see it as 1. If another member PIN another target as 2, everyone sees that target as 2. If the last member PIN target 1 as 3 again, this changes his PIN to 3 for the whole group. At a later date, plan a rank system to allow only certain people to define a PIN. Give the status of lead (especially the functions linked to this, such as grouping or PIN) to several people in the same group. NAV & SCM Differentiate NAV and SMC modes much more clearly by using a colour code. Why not use the cockpit lights directly to differentiate these modes? White in NAV and red in SCM, or other colours depending on the brand (think of the blue colours of the Rocinante in The Expense, when it switches to combat mode). Quantum Mode Better differentiation between markers. Assign a key (a sort of TAB) to switch from one type of jump marker to another (station, outpost, planet, moon, etc.) displayed on the screen, to reduce the number of markers displayed simultaneously. A button to lock a jump point without going through the starmap. Other Extend the duration of notifications for group invitations and quest sharing. Add an option to limit who can send us money (friends only, everyone). Add a bind for QED and EMP. Add more feedback when you click on interactions (F key, share mission, mobiglass, etc). More visual feedback on capacitors and loaded shots.
