CONSISTENT FEEDBACK TO CIG No Matter the side you stand on, the overwhelming majority of feedback to CIG over the last 6 months has to do with some sort of "player to player interaction" We've been analyzing Spectrum posts for the last few months, CIG's Instagram account comments and comments made on their official videos Over 60% of the Feeback, totaling more than 4,000 posts we categorized as 'complaints dealing with player to player interaction' Player to player interaction is primarily made up of 1) non consensual pvp (gank, grief) and 2) harassment There is more feedback on this subject than bugs. YET CIG REMAINS MOSTLY SILENT ON THESE MATTERS The only CIG response we get is Nightrider's "if you have a problem please report it to CS" - which is one of the most prolific posts on Spectrum CIG will respond to store problems immediately with only one complaint And they will discuss major issues (such as the referral program) when feedback is given But the PVX and Social Systems player to player interaction issues, which dominate all feedback goes relatively unanswered WHY IS THERE SO MUCH FEEDBACK ON THIS ISSUE? Non consensual pvp in an open world MMO environment has never been successful. Ever! There isn't a single game with more than 300K players that's done it, and ALL the ones that have tried have failed. The player needs, desires and wants in an MMO are too diverse to allow it. And when one player's rights infringe on another's it creates attrition. Market data is clear; PVP players only represent 15-20% of MMO populations. They are a loud minority. PVP works in consensual places. Contested zones in SC are a great example of this. They are, for the most part, great. All parties know the rules and it's near as makes no difference match play. The World of SC, even Pyro, isn't an open free for all match environment, or at least it shouldn't be. Lawlessness doesn't exist. Anywhere in any society. In fact the most violent places in any society are the least free with the most rules - and penalties for violating them. Reputation will never fix this issue. It's too dynamic and too easily corrupted. And people know this. The law system in Stanton is terrible, doesn't work and there is little difference between the two zones today. People want to play the game the way they want to play it, and their right to do so cannot and should not infringe on another's. Most people understand this. And this is what generates the complaints. The bugs will get fixed and people have more patience to allow for that - see Cyberpunk, No Mans Sky. How someone is treated however, people are less tolerant of and when a player is disenfranchised by another the developer has a responsibility to step in It is CIGs responsibility, even in a sandbox, to create an environment where the risk reward is fair and players who do not disenfranchise the experience of another are protected. HOW HATHOR HIGHLIGHTS THE BIGGEST ONGOING PROBLEM WITH STAR CITIZEN Stanton and Pyro are now the same place; there is nowhere for law abiding players to play (and Pyro shouldn't be as it is regardless; its why prior to Hathor 80% of players were in Stanton) Single threaded game play loops that put end game rewards in PVX environments create toxicity, bad player behavior and incentivize good players to do bad things Single threaded game play loops that allow players to "skip" content and focus on the end point where they can gain all the rewards but do virtually none of the work is simply bad game design WHAT IS THE FIX? Implement the solution every other successful MMO has done!! The market has tested this, learned over years with millions of players inputs. CIG doesn't need to reinvent the wheel A modern slider/flag like Warmode in WOW will solve almost all issues. This isnt the slider most players recall from long ago. This is a dynamic one that flags players based on their behavior. If a player does something (trespass, shoot, harm, break a law) they are auto flagged. Conversely a player who is law abiding is protected. This puts the people who want to murder one another against each other and makes things fair. The ONLY reason a PVP focused player wouldn't want this is because they don't want PVP, they want a gank system where they can take advantage of unsuccespecting lawful players. The only reason to not say yes to this is because you want an unfair advantage. It's most definitely not a "skill issue" or a "git gud" problem. Quite the opposite. A more simple and easy fix that could be implemented in days would be to replicate the Hathor event on every major planet, both in Pyro and Stanton. This is a good idea and would be really well received by most players. For background only. I've been here for 13 years, love the game and the community. I PVP regularly, run an org that successfully has a couple dozen PYAM Exec Hangar ships (so we pvp all the time) and we have successfully completed Hathor too. I've been in this industry my entire professional life, worked at Origin for Chris on team Maverick and credited on WC4, 5, Priv 2 and many many other games. Spent my life in MMOs, their design and simply want SC to be the most successful game in the history of the world. We used to sit at County Line BBQ in Austin TX when I was at Origin and dream about "the game"....and SC is the best opportunity for that to come to pass and I hope it does. Peace to all you citizens. See you in the verse Shield
