You've been shooting yourselves in the foot lately CIG. Moreso than usual. Releasing brand new ships without "gold standard" functionality means one thing, and one thing only; an inevitable rework. Source: I work in an industry that doesn't allow me to half ass anything and when I used to try it made my life hell for months at a time afterwards. Every ship you release without accessible components, sealed doors because animations weren't finished, light switches, locking doors, engineering terminals, fuses, swappable parts, uninteractable hygiene/food facilities, no storage, and having floating interaction menus instead of physical buttons will only make more work for you later down the road and it's painful to see. For example: Wolf - Component bays don't open Allegedly Stinger and Shiv - don't have components at all Apollo - Floating interacts Starlancer - Exterior elevator is missing UI on panel entirely Polaris - Exterior elevator is missing UI on panel entirely And many, many more. These are just from recent memory. Instead of being excited for a new ship I only think about how much work it's going to take to actually bring the thing to true gold standard. At this point of development I genuinely think the "gold standard" idea needs to be abandoned and replaced with some kind of "platinum standard". We're far enough in that no ship should release without the top of the line features. Old ships need to be brought to this standard sooner rather than later. Constant reworks every time something new comes out just isn't feasible for the backlog of ships you have. Establish a standard that no ship exceeds that has all the bells and whistles. Bring ships to that level and do not exceed it. Stop the endless rework, it's slowing you down so much. Most importantly, no ship should EVER be released without being "gold standard" at the very least. You're just making more work for yourself later on to meet the deadlines of now.
