Since Nested threads were made the default setting with no ability to change them back after creation, even i accidentally make them sometimes, and most of the threads in this forum are turning into nested threads... But it is impossible to follow a conversation in a nested thread EVEN IF they were not buggy. There are so many important or interesting threads being made in spectrum right now (we have no other choice since old forums were closed) and as soon as the discussion gets longer than one page, poof-- you can't follow anything anymore and it is turning our forum INTO GARBAGE! At least for the folks who are serious about this game, and willing to carry a discussion longer than a page, and not here to just drive-by post and run away. A simple solution that would work for everybody, is to allow the reader to CHOOSE nested mode, or chronological mode, to read any thread. Please don't make it a setting for the thread creator, that does not make any damn sense! nested or chronological is HOW YOU READ a thread, it's not how you make a thread. The choice should be for the READER, not thread creator. thank you. EDIT: ADDED this for Turbulent: IMPORTANT: For Turbulent, OK, I think I figured out why some people might like nested threads ... and why the rest of us cannot even use it-- it is NOT a matter of "getting used to using nested threads", since the two reading formats are suitable for two different purposes, and cannot be substituted for the other purpose. Nested Threads: are good for FORUM LURKERS, who don't want to spend too much time in the forums, and just want to quickly glance at a few threads, and only read the top few comments, without really participating. Maybe just post a one-off comment or meme, before running off. This kind of person DOES NOT want to read every single post. Chronological Order: are the only way to CARRY ON A CONVERSATION in the forums. This is what people need in order to carry on deep discussions about the game, and lengthy debate or exploration of game ideas. It is necessary to see the order of all posts back to back and see the tangents as they appear in this way to carry on a natural conversation. Without chronological order, a conversation cannot be had, AT ALL! This kind of person DOES WANT to read every single post. And the chronological order is critical to understanding THE CONTEXT OF WHY EACH POST WAS MADE, otherwise the meaning is totally destroyed by nested order. Just posting this for Turbulent to consider. And again, it is the READER who should be deciding which format to use to read a thread. You don't let the thread creator to force the reader to use chrome, or microsoft Edge, or safari to read a thread, so in the same way, don't force the reader to use an inappropriate format. thank you.
