Originally when I created this thread I was confused over the functionality of the notifications tray. Basically, the notifications thread will only dismiss your notifications when you close it by clicking on another part of the window, not when you close it by clicking on the notification bell itself (which probably should be fixed). However, while pondering over the general design of notifications, there was a another approach to notifications that I think should be considered. The basic gist of the idea is that the notifications move to a more email like system, where notifications are not considered 'read' until acted upon. This would be an alternative to the more casual system now and make it easier to keep track of what notifications you have and haven't responded to. And, of course, it would include a 'Mark all read' button that could deal with all the notifications at once. This would be especially helpful when trying to keep track of multiple conversations across different channels or posts. Overall, it would be a quality of life improvement that would make following conversations easier. Anyhow, I would like to hear about what you all think about this system. Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions. Edit (Post Updated): This post started out to the solution of a problem that turned out to be a sort of bug (Notifications not going away when closing the tray by clicking the bell icon). I decided to hijack it and propose another system of dealing with notifications. Sorry for any inconvenience. Edit: It seems as though it is intended for the notifications to go away when opening and closing the tray. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work for me.
