I've been wanting to move over to Spectrum for a while now, but for some reason I keep going back to Reddit. As someone who works with usability / UX that sparked some musings about why that is (I really want to transfer over)... and I think I have a conclusion and a request. In the SC reddit every new thread created is shown in the same one list. There are no categories or subsections to keep track of, but flairs (tags) tells me what topic it is related to (drama, official, questions and so on). Now, for Spectrum this is another beast altogether (by necessity). Here, the vast amount of threads and information are divided into logical categories such as 'ships', 'Concierge', 'Spectrum', 'PTU' and so on. That means that I have to go in and out of each category (or even sub-category?) to keep abreast of news, and more often than not that becomes a hassle. As a new feature: What if we could select amongst the categories we want to follow (based on our level of access), and then have Spectrum generate a 'newsfeed' (threadfeed?) of these in a combined list? Maybe as a #newsfeed tag first in my bookmarks pane? Furthermore each thread could be tagged/flaired with it's category name to make it easy to see where the topic originates from. This way I wouldn't have to go in and out of each category and/or subcategory separately since all new stories independent of category would show up, and I could engage in selected threads (be taken to them) if I choose to do so. This would give me a handy and easy-to-browse overview, and would also be immensely helpful when visiting Spectrum from my mobile...
