I furnish the following only as further research on the subject, and am not suggesting what is right wrong or obtuse, so am not looking for helpful comments. I have an Emerald Phoenix, but not a regular Phoenix. If I select a ccu from the Phoenix to another ship, I get the message "You do not own this ship", suggesting that the Emerald Phoenix is considered a different ship than the Phoenix, and not just a skin. Having purchased a ccu from the Phoenix to an A2 Hercules, if I select the Phoenix ccu and "apply upgrade', I am given the message You have no pledges that qualify for this upgrade. Confirming that its not the same ship. Summary. While I have no intent to immediately ccu from my Emerald Phoenix, who knows what the future may bring? To the best of my knowledge, this is the only $350 ship for which no ccu-from is available. So, I bring this up for CIG's consideration, and a statement of direction for this situation.
