I would really like to see CIG offer Oauth connections to the site. So that the community can use their SC accounts to sign in on external sites. I'm for instance working on a SC related project, and would like to be able to display the users information on the site. Things like their forum name, avatar etc. In the future it would be really cool if there was an API that let us get the ships etc that the user owns. And in the future extend that API to contain things about the game world like; commodity prices, items in game, general ship stats etc. Some examples of other game developers that have this form of API is: Blizzard: https://dev.battle.net/ Eve Online: https://developers.eveonline.com/ Guild Wars 2: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/API:Main League of Legends: https://developer.riotgames.com/ Third party services is a huge part of an active and invested community. It would be great if those developers could get started now, and then expand their services as the API expands as SC matures.
