Seriously? This is a communications platform is it not? And what exactly did you think you would communicate to anyone by using the label “original” instead of “chronological?” You’re still calling the other version nested right? Why not use the labels original and new then? That would at least be consistently uninformative of what to expect. The design parameters are: You get one word. It should help inform the user of what to expect/what it will do. Does the word "original" carry any meaning for anyone without previous contextual familiarity? Do you know what a noob is? Do you know how important they are? And in what way have you helped inform them of anything by substituting the label “original” for “chronological?” This is a basic element of communications design, to use words that inform us of something, without previous contextual knowledge. Or maybe if i just wait for the help text to pop up. Oh look the help text is a single word It says, "chronological." This design direction would be like if we labeled the ship seat eject button/function simply as “emergency.” Is that helping, do we understand what happens when we hit that button before we hit it? If not, probably not a good choice in the label. This post is not about this one single thing though. It is simply the example of a more core issue. To have come to the notion that the label "original" was a better choice, than any word that intrinsically carries meaning. This indicates the direction being followed, did not first and foremost concern itself with providing clear unambiguous information to the end users. If that had been job number one, then you could not have choosen a label that requires additional contextual information already be known by the end user. To make that choice you must have assumed the end users know what you know, if you think "original" would mean to them, what it means to you. Big thumbs up for sure on the user preference universal setting plan. Thank you for that. But you know, description labels that total internet and SC noobs would be able to derive meaning from. That's important.
