In a future update to Spectrum, we are going to get the option to choose how to display a thread as we read, and it won't be down to the creator of the OP. However the whole point of nested thread, or most of it, goes out the window when people answer by systematically quoting the whole message they're answering to every time they're answering. So my, request? More than idea really, is that with the nested view, any message answered to with the "quote" button, should have the whole quote not displayed in nested view. Some of us can see the benefit of nested threads, please don't abandon it.
