Hi all, First off I'd like to say that I've posted this thread here since it's not really a game idea, but more of a website idea. With that out of the way, let me get started on the actual topic. Star Citizen, and more importantly Squadron 42, is getting to the point where CIG will more than likely want to start marketing and advertising the game(s), and how they go about that is up to them, but one of the key issues I currently see for the games expanse is the RSI Store website's design. Imagine hearing of SC either from an advert or a friend, and thinking "Hey, I'd like to purchase that game, let me go have a look". So you go to the website, go to the store page, and are greeted with the current deign. Nothing against the original designers of it, but it could do with a nice overhaul to make it a bit more use friendly, especially to new players. And so that is what I've attempted to do. NOTE: These are simply layout designs, in the hopes of getting my idea across and dont include images, colours ect... Now these are the basic layouts for 5 pages that I think the general user will use on a frequent basis. From left to right it goes: HOME , GAME PACKAGE , SHIPS , SALES and EXTRAs. My idea for these pages was to make each one of them as simple and as easy to understand as possible, and hopefully I have achieved that. I wanted to keep a lot of elements similar to the current design, but just improve upon them to make them a little more ergonomic. For the homepage, I've removed a lot of the clutter, and made it a lot easier to navigate to other parts of the website, and have tried to keep each category plain and not filled with different things to click on, so you get a better idea of what it contains, and then once you click on it, you then get the options. For the game-package page, I wanted to separate the SQ42 and SC packages so that no user would get confused by the different options, and end up purchasing the wrong one by mistake. The Ship Page has been simplified to include less filters, but a much more obvious search bar, as well as a simplified preview as to not make it look too complicated. The Sales page follows a similar design to the a Ship Page, but without the filter as it only lists ships on sale each patch. And the final page, the Extras page, just shows the user all the categories they can choose from, so its not too messy, and has the option to be expanded. From there they can then choose which category they want and then have access to those options, instead of having all of them on a single page. Before I finish this post, I would also like to show a concept design for the ship matrix. I know this isn't apart of the Pledge Store, but I think this could help point CIG in the right direction when they come to redesign it. I personally like whole layout for the categories, but thought that putting it inside a container and adding useful things such as filters and a much easier comparison system wouldn't go far into making it a lot nicer to use. All it needs now is some accurate information, but unfortunately I cant do that. Thanks for reading, hopefully you like these ideas and that they help the awesome devs at CIG make their website a little easier to use not just for us current backers, but for any future ones as well, as the game continues to grow. As always suggestions are always welcome as that's the only way we can all come together and agree on something, and as I've found out, help with the development. If wanted I may also have a look at the main page and do something with that, that's wanted of course. Hope you like, All the best, Shibs.
