You are unable to find recent replies in nested threads if the replies are nested in another post. (This is like three quarters of replies making the sort by new button three quarters useless basically.) The forum needs a global recent posts page that you can see all recent posts regardless of section or if nested. Or even better would be a "recent posts" page where you can filter by section.
