Currently, users of these forums can upvote any thread from the main category screen, without having to click the thread and read through the opening post. Now, I think the upvote system is a terrible idea, overall, and inherently anti-speech. However, that view aside, if CIG insists on having a system of upvoting, the least they can do is avoid any potential for "judging a book by its cover." Anyone who wishes to upvote a thread should, at the very least, be forced to click that thread and read through the OP before making that determination. We are all entitled to our informed opinion. Spectrum should be encouraging people to inform themselves about the actual subject material presented in the opening post of a thread before deciding whether to like or dislike what that person had to say. Right now, the upvote system is open to abuse by people who don't even know what it is they are lending their support to.
