I've spent days carefully crafting my Halloween story submission for the Day of the Vara contest. I finally got it slimmed down to just under 4000 characters. But, when I pasted it into the Community Hub, it came up as 4074 characters. It took me a while to figure it out. But, the forum counts an "enter" key stroke as two characters for some reason. I trimmed my story down from 6900 characters. I don't think I can trim it down another 80 characters without having to completely rewrite it. This could disqualify some people if they were looking at the character count on their word processor and missed the count in the hub here. Also, I'm annoyed that lines with only special characters are made invisible. I was trying to use an ellipsis "..." on its own line to denote passage of time. But they just disappeared when I posted. Thank you.
