CIG's unique approach to bug smashing with the Issue Council has its ups and downs. It has helped identify many critical issues, but at the same time, many other bugs remain unresolved because testers link reports to unrelated topics. For example, while out running Hathor missions, my org ran into a bug with the Starlancer TAC med beds, not a critical issue, but one that caused minor headaches and appears to be easily fixable. We make the report, get enough reproductions, and it's confirmed, perfect. Go forward a few days, and we discover that our report has been linked to an issue from 2021, 4 YEARS AGO, that's labeled as confirmed, not pertaining to anything with the Starlancer TAC, as it's a month-old release. So now we're back at square one, with no recognition of the issue, and we'll likely be left playing with these bugs for months, if not years to come, because people make attempts to "clean up" the Issue Council. The question I have for CIG is "What drives people to link Issues like this?" Is it because active IC users may get Evo/Earlier PTU Access? Are there still rewards to be found? Whatever the case, many bugs never get attention because of how the IC is currently managed, and in the "year of stability," it feels like a major issue that slows down progress. I think a lot of players can agree that the progress this year is starting to show, even if it's not where CIG wants it to be yet. We spend less time fighting bugs and more time exploring the stars. My fear, however, is that this progress will be set back if hundreds of these minor to hardly playable bugs are never addressed. My suggestion, or ask, is that CIG devotes just a bit more resources to better management of the Issue Council. If bugs get squashed and resolved sooner, it could result in less work through the endgame, fixing what's broken, and delivering on the promise of "the year of stability" that's been hyped up since December. I'd love to hear everyone's suggestions on this thread for how it can be improved, and I want to further thank CIG for upholding the promise of stability (so far). I feel like the game is in a good state, but there are always things here and there that can be improved.
