Was a part of, what I thought to be, a fun thought exercise recently. Mulled over a few ideas. Some wild, some more tame. Posted a couple lengthy replies and thought that was that.. until it wasn't. I've noticed a trend, after some months continuously lurking about here- where if persons do not agree with either the OP or a reply therein, they do one of two things: Use brusque wording which often is equivalent to "You are wrong. Let me explain why." Or Shortly after, either here in General or in the corresponding manufacturer's thread for a topic(no, the irony of this post in this location is not lost on me) a post will appear. Always with the wording "Not directed at anyone in particular." Or some such. It's great because, usually you can hop down to the post right below it and definitely see what definitely didn't inspire their rant. And this happens across multiple threads, consistently. But back to the point- what happened to friendly debate? To:"I can understand your perspective, here is my take on it- what do you think?". To speculation, imagination, or outright dreaming for the sake of a bloody good time? These forums seem a minefield as of late, with some group or person ready to dismissively, predictably defend their personal viewpoint, no matter what approach you take. So maybe this is the ironic post of the day. Maybe not. What happened to having fun?
