Not sure if this belongs here, feel free to move it wherever appropriate. So my brother was able to brag about how fantastically accurate his head tracking was with his HMD now that VR is officially working and not complete suck. Been using a Tobii ET5 for years, and while it's better than nothing and the eye tracking is great, the head-tracking is garbage. Twitchy and inconsistent. Also doesn't work in Linux at all because the devs are a bit sleazy and will only do linux drivers for the very expensive research models. Bought one of these for $47.99: WT901BLECL MPU9250 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T2C97WN Strapped it to the headband of my A50s. *note: do not put against earcup. It's a speaker and has a magnet. No bueno. Use the Witmotion app on either phone or computer (windows only :disappointed: ) to calibrate the unit. Take note of your device's MAC address! *note: you'll occasionally need to recalibrate Install Python: https://www.python.org/downloads/ Or in Winblows cmd/ps: winget install Python.Python.3.14 --source winget Install dependencies: In a new terminal, use pip install bleak psutil Save this script somewhere. https://github.com/Sakata-MC/scripts/blob/main/witmotion-IMU_bridge.py *note: Edit it to point where you put opentrack. Also edit the MAC address. Install opentrack: https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases/ *note: I personally use the "portable" version. Input: UDP over network: port 4242 Output: freetrack 2.0 Enhanced: Select Interface: Enable both Filter: Up to you, experiment! I use NaturalMovement with Rotation response and drift at 20/7. So far it is MUCH more accurate than the Tobii. Orders of magnitude more precise. And I can talk on comms without the Tobii thinking my head is moving. It's glorious.
