I need to preface this and say this would only really affect people with an older Star Citizen build loaded into the game. So yeah, onto the post.... Hey All! Over the past couple of days I was doing some experimentation with the assets I loaded into CE and I managed, with some tweaks, to extract the older v6 character skeleton from the game assets. This version is from at least 2 years ago but that is also the build most people with an editor build seem to use. The reason for this was to make use of the animations which are loaded into the engine on my own assets and to create my own animations for a short series currently in pre-production. The side effect is the ability to reskin current assets and use them in engine. Right now I am skinning a copy with will be used for animation purposes, similar to that seen in ATV in the past, and I want to release this asset as a modders resource for anyone who might have been having trouble with this (it isn't THAT much work but it is easily a blocker for most) when it is finished. A properly edited tutorial would also follow showing how to use it with the engine. The work still to be done is to make a control rig but it will consist of the basic HiK rig from Autodesk or another one using Advanced Skeleton once I get it assigned properly. What you would be able to do with this is to create your own animations which can be applied to characters in the SDK (only from an old build afaik) and allow you to bring in newer assets (with some work) and apply them to the older skeletal rigs (v6). Damn that's a lot of context, anyway.... tl;dr - Would I get in trouble for releasing a bit of kit like this? Because it does include a skeleton and two meshes taken directly from the game.
