While I want to propose a concept called: "550d - Echelon" as a worthwhile daily driver that we actualy need, please note/understand the following: - I'm no architect/designer/engineer - While I do like building space ships, I dont excel in that - My painting/drwing skills are worse than my hull design - I was working with 2m blocks for socisticated lines like Origin, please give me some slack The main reason for this concept was the idea of an Origin-ship doing "Data Running", hence the idea for a "Data Monolith", covering 2 floors of a ship, was the logical next step. Everything else came after. ---- We're lacking practical use of Origin ships "now", so for the past 6 weeks, I've been working on this concept, and with the start of todays/yesterdays "Origin days", I'm feeling the urge to promote/release my concept (well, the first draft/model, because my 2nd draft/model wasnt complete/still stuck at first blocks). ---- Dimensions: - Length: ~74 m - Width: ~40 m - Height: ~16 m Flight: - High forward acceleration - Optimized for disengagement, not dogfighting - when weapons are powered off, they should be retracted/hidden - thanks to the light/carbon hull, and despite the huge/heavy data-monolith, the ship is suprisingly agile because most of the weight is quite at the center of the mass/ship dimensions, still, it might drift a little bit. Components: - Power Plants: 3x Size 2 (2 active, 1 as cold backup) - Coolers: 2x Size 2 (+ 1 dedicated to data core) - Shields: 1x Size 3 - Radar: Civilian/Standard (not exploration/military) Weapons: - Pilot: 2x Size 4, gimballed - Turrets: 2x Remote twin Size 3 (360°, top/belly) - Missiles: 4x MSD-313 (4x s3 / 8x s2 / 16x s1 missiles) Cargo: - Concept: split to left + right of ship, using origin style elevators, "down-turned" wings protect the process of un-/loading - SU: 2x 48su (each 3x 16 su grid = (2x3) x 16 = 96 total) --> I think it should have more than 400i, yet less than MSR, --> at least 2x 16 SU box should fit on either side, to transport servers in corporate standard containers - Vehicles: not "designed" for that, but also... --> An Origin customer doesnt want to walk (far), and thus an X1 should fit instead of "a (or two) 16 su" cargo box Features: - Data: 2-floor tall data monolith (idk - somewhat around MSR, maybe slightly more because not-modular???) - Medical: 1x T3 beds (spawn only) We at origin not only care about the well being of our guest and clients, but also about our employees and contractors. Hence we MIGHT offer 1-2x T3 medical beds to ensure physical health. --> While I'd LOVE 3 med-beds, i think that would be too strong, --> where with 1 med-bed, i think it might be "too little" and conflict with a full crew, but i also want to avoid "power creep" or stepping on any other ship's toe's. Origin Systems: - AIR - Quantum efficency - (NEW) Faradey-Cage re-enforced glass-cube protection for the data monolith (only the data, NOT the ship components) --> (effect: Just the Data/-monolith EMP protected or has highly reduced EMP/hacking effects -> "loot" preservation, ship/crew is still helpless!) --> and MAYBE!!! a little bit from ship ballistics that already went through the hull (thus the force of those is already reduced) --> and while slightly resistant (NOT immune) to handheld ballistic, its vulnerable to explosions/strong weapons (boomstick, railgun, probably ballistic sniper?) ---- If you now think, wait, this is too much! - Please see prepared spread sheet to compare vs other ships. ---- YouTube: Last but not least, I'd like you to watch the Video as the actual concept suggestion (at least in regards to the internal space). - It was most challenging to preserve the proposed dimensions (M-Hangar) while working with 2m blocks occuping the full volume! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbWqTJVjFDE ---- What do you think?
