Hi, I am happy to present my home made tevarin fighter : the Penitent, designed on Blender. I hope you enjoy it ! The Penitent is a small fighter with variable-sweep wing. I my mind, it is an agile and weak fighter dedicated to the guerrilla (It seems to be the same role as that provided for the Esperia Talon). The Penitent is composed of : A aerodynamic and narrow hull, containing a blind cockpit, ship components, subsystems, fuel and quantum tanks, landing gear and some grav lev for take off assistance. Two main thrusters « Cluster » allowing high linear acceleration. The Clusters include back thrusters and auxillary thrusters for strafe and limited pitch, roll and yaw. Two wings with three feathers each. The feathers allow efficient atmospheric flight, in subsonic speed (when deployed forward) and supersonic speed (when deployed backward). The main feather includes an auxillary thruster at the end, to roll very fast when the feather is deployed forward. Two fixed weapons of size 4. Here I place my home made « Hitari Cannon » : a special class of energetic weapon, designed by the Corath’Thal engineers, who spreads a dangerous plasma bow on short range. The cannons are retractable to reduce the drag during supersonic flight. A retractable tail with four rudder, to stabilize atmospheric flight. The end of the tail includes an auxillary thruster, for fast pitch and yaw. The Penitent offers three configurations : Landing mode : to land and take off. To reduce the docking square, the tail is retracted, the feathers and the rudders are deployed backward. Assault mode : use for the dogfight. The feathers and the rudders are deployed forward to increase lift and stability, to allow a thrifty atmospheric flight in subsonic speed. The auxillary thrusters of main feather and tail offer high maneuverability. Dive mode : Use for sneaked flight and thrifty atmospheric flight in supersonic speed. To reduce the drag, the feathers and the rudders are deployed backward (like a delta wing configuration) and the weapons are retracted. Feathers auxillary thrusters, tail auxillary thrusters and weapons system are disabled, to reduce EM and IR emission. The cross section of the ship is reduced by the geometry of the wings. In dive mode, the ship is slighty stealthy, but it cannot fight and his maneuverability is limited to the auxillary thrusters included in the main thruster.
