The Greycat Caracal is my idea for a land based heavier logistics solution to other vehicles like the Ursa or Cyclone. The Caracal is a 2 seater 6x6 forward steer medium logistics vehicle intended to carry either 4 medium SCU containers or 16 small SCU containers. Its still a work in progress at the moment but I've been trying to keep as close to the Greycat style as I can within the limits of my software. Ideally, the Caracal would fill the gap between cargo arriving on planet and being delivered to outposts on the same world, built more for roads and highways than off road but that's not to say that it cant handle off-roading. The Caracal's wheels operate on independent suspension with no physical connection to its neighbor, allowing the Caracal improved mobility over typical medium logistics vehicles. I've been playing with the idea that it might have a single size one gimballed weapon on its roof remote operated by the passenger or even hand operated at the cost of an SCU container. Its got 4 bays for components just behind the front wheels so far, I'm still working on that, need to do a little research into what components ground vehicles actually use. At the end of the day its a bit reminiscent of the HEMPT by OSHKOSH with its floating cab design which I thought was a good place to start, giving it a rugged yet functional appearance. Some things I'm planning on doing with it are improving the overall hull fidelity, adding more greebles and detailing. Improving the Greycat logo, I just kind of slapped it on for aesthetic at the moment but I'll find a better spot for it at some point. Let me know what you think! -and please, keep it civil. VERSION 0.2 UPDATE So in this quick update, I added a little more detail including some hand hold rails. I've added a bulkier volume inside the cab to give the impression of engine and electronics actually existing on the model. I've done a pass with materials looking for an ideal style for moving forward. I also took a look at the cab and added some overhead MFD's and put in some hand drawn place holder HUD UI. I didn't get as much time to spend on it on this update but I'll keep working when I can. So far the overall purpose is the same, land based logistics, its looking like I may not go with arming it after all so it might be wise to escort the Caracal with a CycloneTR or other armed vehicle.
