I am no designer and have zero skills in any 3d application. But... From a realistic ship design view you want the ship more upright. Because the bridge has a better view and the arc of fire from the weapons is more effective. I am a sci fi enthusiast and i allways liked the the upright ship design. But at this point i am missing exact those. I guess the main problem here is mostly the hangers needed in SC. In a smaller capital ships this could be done by single bays. Maby like those in the caterpillar but for fighters. Her some examples:
