In the latest tech talk with Benois, he mentioned work on access for possible APIs to aid third parties with peripherals. I know scope creep is a thing but please wrap this into the beginning of broad Mod support even if it comes in pieces over time. Yes it is still in development and it could be painful for modders but it doesn't mean we don't want to try. I know it is a Chris Roberts thing but I hate the idea that manufacturers have all their HUDs in specific colors. So much that I personally avoid some manufacturers. Then also thinking with yellow or orange tints they could leverage some vision advantages in combat situations. I would want to mod colors. So I can avoid the ones I hate and maybe toggle to yellow when in combat. Seriously colors to manufacturer association would be like saying I have an iphone and everything has to be pink, or a samsung phone and everything has to be green. Hell even my car has options to adjust the ambient light colors. No modern manufacturer is going to limit the colors of your interface as it would just alienate buyers. People want options. Additionally I have one large monitor in the middle and two smaller monitors on the sides. I really want to put helmet HUD items or maps on the side monitors and free up the main monitor more while also knowing those items are always stationary to me. Hell even the concept of those spinning fan 3D displays, imagine putting a map or ship HUD on one of those in the real world in 3 dimensions. I know that tech in a streamable form is expensive with poor refresh currently but everything gets better over time and I don't think that market has realized gaming potential yet. Even at lower refresh rates it could still work well for maps and other HUD items. I love information and even at one point was looking at the logs to see if I could do anything with them but I know they are currently a mess and getting cleaned up. At some point I have no doubt I'll make some form of info HUD(my background is in data development primarily). Every great game with replay ability has great mod support. Mods can also show the devs some ideas without them having to make it to try. I would even agree to terms that they can incorporate any ideas into the game just to have access to the tools. I know that might be controversial but I'm not in it to profit, just to help. I've stayed away mostly because of their terms of service around unapproved third party apps accessing game files. Make it official and let us get started. Please keep in mind broad mod support and not just peripherals. Even if you spoon feed it to us in incremental pieces. I understand each peace may have exploit potential so one piece at a time is fine once vetted.
