I’m building a working Darklight laser pistol (a knock-off of the Arc Light so CIG won’t come after me) — see pictures below. To get 3 V to operate the linear solenoid (slide blow-back), I’m putting a 18650 battery in the magazine. That battery will also power the countdown display, the red LED “laser,” the speakers, and the RP2040 that runs everything. The battery is large, so the magazine dimensions had to change. There’s still a lot to do, but I decided to measure the pistol against an existing one. And that’s the problem: it’s bigger — slightly larger than a Desert Eagle. It’s 285 mm long rather than the Arc Light’s already sizeable 240 mm. Now for the cosplay question: do you care if it’s that big, or should I rework it to a more comfortable size?
