Hi everyone! With a friend, we are trying to model our own ship. We don’t want to waste too much time recreating asset that CIG developer already made. So is it possible to use asset from ships that are already designed (the mustang to be precise, since we want to make a CNOU ship)? I was able to get the .ctm file from the website. Using Meshlab, I convert it to a .stl, and import it in Fusion 360. From here, it is relatively easy to separate just the thrusters, or the top air intake. However, to convert it to a solid body, without losing every detail is a lot trickier… (And I don’t even want to think about something as complex as the cockpit). So I’d like to know if anyone has ever done this and could give me advice. We are using Fusion 360 because my friend and I are engineers, so we are familiar with the parametric modeling, and it’s free for enthusiast or hobbyists (plus it also as a sculpt environment). Fusion 360 doesn’t handle triangular mesh very well though, so this is probably a part of the problem… I’m guessing a lot of you are using blender, would it make a big difference? Thanks in advance!!
