So, I´ve been thinking how would I design a spaceship in real life. - No windows. I would make a hull with plenty built in cameras on its surface. That would give us the possibility to make a cockpit anywere. You could place the cockpit in the rear, and you could even orient it anyhow. The walls of the cockpit would be covered with screens that show the ships exterior, so you have the sensation that you are looking through a window in the front of the ship. You would be less exposed tomicrometeor impacts, bullets and so. Like a submarine. - Of course some windows would be needed in case of power failure or camera destruction, but would be hatch closed until needed. - For atmospheric take off those cameras would be covered by a hatch, that would open up in space, and avoid damaging or dust. - Building like ship. The ship would have a vertical design. Imagine a buliding with engines on the basement. Vertical take off and you would feel thrust as gravity. Ships would have several floors. That would be a problem for cargo ships (more, but smaller rooms). Add your thougths about realistic design!!!
