Hi, today i want to share my newest concept with you. It's just a basic block out and i'm not that good at CAD, so i need to work on my 3dsmax skills a little bit. The Mercurius class shares obviosly some styles from the star trek franchise. I thought, there are many trekkies out there, why not make a ship, that gives a captain the trek feeling, but with SC tech. pros: - strong anti-fighter-arament (heavy turrets -> retractable into the saucer section) - the ship has an very good maneuverability and speed (comparable to the polaris) - long range and mission time for exploration - shields are relativly strong - redundancy through two powerplants - sensors are very good - most essential components of the ship are placed deep inside the hull to prefent easy destruction - modularity through mission pod cons: - weak armor - very weak anti-capital-ship weapons -> two ship to ship turrets at the bottom and three small torpedo launchers (position not clear) Top: The main thrusters are placed in both of the grey sections. The hole weidth of these sections is going to get filled up with round shaped thrusters. The plan is to go with a hell lot of "small" thrusters placed in one row. The orange section in the rear is a good spot for a small hangar bay. Bottom: The red section is an interchangable mission pod (containing additional sensors/weapons or other interior). The orange part in the front is where the bridge is. Top: In the blue section there is the main hydrogen collector (the orange part is just clipping). On the lowest position behind the hydrogen collector are the two main turrets (for ship to ship combat). Bottom: heidth: 24,215m weidth: 120m length: 115,053m I tried to follow some design rules with this model. So maybe you see, that many dimension on these vessel are divisible through other dimensions to get some pretty lines. All angles used are from constant convex polygons. Even it was not intended, i think the averall look off this vessel looks alot like the nebula class. What do you guys think? I'm open for suggestions...
